Solve : Unable to view files and folders on my C:/ Drive? |
Answer» Hello. My system has been very slow lately and I wanted to move some files from my C: and D: drives to my external drive to free up some space. The problem I am facing is I am unable to see the files and folders that used to be on my C: Drive. When I click on C: Drive, a message pops up stating that C: is not formatted. I know formatting C: drive will wipe out all my files so I am hoping someone out there has another solution. Also, when I right-click C: Drive, click Properties and check the Capacity, it is SHOWING 0 Bytes. There should be about 12 GB. Also in Properties, when I click on Tools and try to check the volume, nothing happens, when I try to Defrag, a message states that it cannot run this type of volume and when I try to click C: from the command line, the following message 'The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted' appears. I have ran out of options. Please help. Thanks in advance for your assistance.Run diagnostics on C |

Solve : Adobe Flash 10? |
Answer» I'm new to this site & appreciate the opportunity to receive some help. I'm a Windows XP user which came pre-installed on my Dell computer which is about 5 years old & has given me no problems. Really enjoy my PC! I catch some of the American Idol performances on youtube 'cause my husband hates the show. But lately I can't access the videos & am told I either have Java Script turned off or NEED to download the latest version of Adobe Flash 10. I go through the steps to no avail. Done it a dozen times. Nothing. I get to the part where it says I should be seeing a movie. No movie. I shut the PC off, restart, no Adobe 10. Can't find help at the Adobe Flash website. Any suggestions? I'll warn you in advance the anwers need to be as simple as possible.what browser are you using? (Firefox? IE? Something else?)Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools at the top right corner, click Manage Add on's..Then check to see if Java is enabled what browser are you using? (Firefox? IE? Something else?) good question........be sure to download the right installer for you browser I believe there is a Standalone installer for Firefox AND Internet Explorer Quote from: blockHEAD on May 26, 2009, 12:43:08 PM Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools at the top right corner, click Manage Add on's..Then check to see if Java is enabled What has Java got to do with it? Youtube doesn't use Java, just Flash. Quote from: nanafromLA on May 26, 2009, 11:55:07 AM But lately I can't access the videos & am told I either have Java Script turned off or need to download the latest version of Adobe Flash 10. I suppose Java has nothing to do with it, however she did mention it, so why not give a heads up for future reference sorry, I think I only posted the link to install the active x controll... hold for a moment please... OK, navigate to this thread and locate the Standalone provided http://computerhelpforum.org/forum/operating_systems/f13/trouble_downloading_adobe_flash_player_10/t21787.html download it to your desktop and install (this is for Internet Explorer, by the way) Quote from: blockHEAD on May 26, 2009, 01:51:59 PM I suppose Java has nothing to do with it, however she did mention it, so why not give a heads up for future reference Woah, wait a second. Java is NOT JavaScript. Completely different. Java is a programming language, used to create Java applets and small applications like chat interfaces etc. for websites. JavaScript is used to dynamically transform websites with animated content.Chaps, it may be helpful to know that I have encountered many instances of the Flash 10 plugin failing to install properly. In each case the solution has been to uninstall completely before re-installing. Quote from: kpac on May 27, 2009, 03:44:26 AM Woah, wait a second. Java is NOT JavaScript. Completely different. Java is developed by sun microsystems. Javascript implemented by the netscape and mozilla guys. Big difference. And neither of them is relevant to this problem. The error message is MISLEADING. Quote from: kpac on May 27, 2009, 03:44:26 AM Woah, wait a second. Java is NOT JavaScript. Completely different. Java is a programming language, used to create Java applets and small applications like chat interfaces etc. for websites. JavaScript is used to dynamically transform websites with animated content. thanks for making that distinction for me You may fail to install an executable if only your husband is an administrator A user cannot do an administrator's job. I have a related thought in mind - but I don't want to get flamed ! ! ! You may need to have him install it for you, or to give you admin rights. FLASH has vulnerabilities. A few months ago it was so bad that FLASH 10 was released. I decided to MINIMIZE risk I un-installed all the adobe - macromedia rubbish - every wretched bit of the stuff. To then display FLASH on either I.E. or Firefox would have required separate downloads by both browsers which would automatically get the relevant (and different) executables. I chose to contaminate my hard drive with only ONE download; the "safe" NON-'Active X' version used by the safe browser Firefox. An even more important reason is that now I.E. has lost Flash 9, my daughter has to switch over to Firefox if she wants to see Flash. I am sure she will yield if I apply sufficient pressure ! ! ! By adding the Active X version for I.E. I would have gained more vulnerabilities because Active X is bad news, and I.E. is even worse. Regards Alan |

Solve : Is it safe to charge a notebook with different adapter?? |
Answer» i've a old adapter which is no longer use. i plan to use the old adapter to CHARGE my new notebook at home, and new adapter to charge notebook at work. so i don't have to carry the adapter between work and home. You can probably get away with this. The current variation is so slight that I suspect no damage would be done. Your new laptop may potentially overdraw current on the old adapter but the worst I suspect that will happen is that the old adapter's life will end a little earlier than it might otherwise have done.doing so, i would not burn anything right? i don't WANT the battery explode or the motherboard smoke. if the only possible effect is that the life of the old adapter is shortened, then i can take it as long as the new notebook not smoking. You'd only see effects like that if the adapter was delivering too much current then the laptop can handle. in this case the adapter doesn't even meet the laptops requirement, so the laptop will be drawing a little bit more power. Sometimes when the laptop detects this circumstance it REFUSES to charge the battery while it's still on, but that's the only possible side effect I could see on the laptop. The adapter on the other hand, as Rob said, will have a reduced life, at best. |

Solve : Actually Not Windows But Office - MS Access more particularly.? |
Answer» Hi to administrator and all, I had created a program (FORM viewing and querying) in MS access 2000. It works fine with Windows 98. But when I run it under Windows XP (SP-2), I get the message that TWO .ocx files (Audio Control.ocx and mscomct2.ocx ver 2.0) are missing and have to be fixed before I can proceed. The message is actually LIKE this : "your microsoft access contains a missing or broken reference to file Audio Control.ocx ver 2.0 (and mscomct2.ocx ver 2.0 in the next screen) and has to be fixed before proceding. " So as advised in the help, when I open reference under VB editor, I find the following "MISSING Microsoft Windows Common Controls - 2.6.0 (SP4)" What am I supposed to do ? ------- Also, one of the subreports does not intimate any information even though a good amount of information is available in the database on which the subreport is based (even in Windows 98 under MSoffice 2000). Please advise Thanks RK Rao You can try to copy the 2 files into the system32 folder on the XP MACHINES. I have done that in the past with good luck. Dear Mr. Spoiler (?), I shall try the same tomorrow (since it is late now) and later intimate on this post, whether the PROBLEM was resolved. Meanwhile, my INTERIM thanks to you for your immediate (rather instant) reply. Thanks again. RK |

Solve : hard drive full, next day less full? |
Answer» Hi, I have a question about what XP might do in the event that the C: drive gets absolutely maxed out. Have you got Volume Shadow Copies enabled? Occasionaly when the VSS service barfs it will release disk space. when you are no longer able to defragment your pc without the windows defragmenter complaining that your pc is almost out of space, you need to get something done about it. And windows won't just randomly delete files. A malware or virus can but not the OPERATING system unless you have told it to in something like a system TASK associated with a program.Computer with very low hard disk free space won't boot at all one day. He asked for help here and he will get help here.System Restore does not erase files or programs except those created or installed after the chosen restore date. And even then you only lose the function of the programs. ( the .exe files ) For example, If you installed the Cubase Program on 05/20/2009. And then you restored the computer to 05/05/09. You must reinstall the Cubase program. The files might still be on the HDD. Or you may copy the files back to the HDD from the USB device. The songs will play again after you reinstall the Cubase Program. Program files Cubase.exe ( executables ) will copy and then not EXECUTE. Programs must be reinstalled: http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/cubase/ Good Luck Sorry Cat - I never knew you were an expert on Cubase I was merely trying to save Sassy from a very long wait - I did not realize you would have an instant answer. Solve : Computer Memory and Games? |
Answer» I've been TRYING to install a GAME on my computer, but my computer doesn't have enough memory. I tried deleting files that took up space and it hardly made a dent. I was wondering if there was some way to install the game on a jump drive or floppy disk and use that to play it on my computer? Or could copy the game from one computer and play it on mine without having to install it? If both of those are impossible to do could someone help me free up space? Quote from: helpme911 on MAY 28, 2009, 04:24:12 PM I've been trying to install a game on my computer, but my computer doesn't have enough memory. Or could copy the game from one computer and play it on mine without having to install it? If both of those are impossible to do could someone help me free up space?Deleting old system restore points is known to increase disk space, and Windows computers require at least 15% disk space to function propery... A floppy disk is virtually out of the question, and maybe FLASH/jump drives...depending on the game size, a flash drive won't be able to handle it. |

Solve : Mouse and Keyboard won't work at Welcome screen? |
Answer» I have a few hard drives that are all running on xp. When I hook them up (separately) to my computer they WORK fine with the exception of one. It will load but at the welcome screen the mouse and keyboard won't respond. Keyboard and mouse are good cause they work fine with the other hard drives. I have tried recovery console and ran fixboot and fixmbr with no changes but like I said it does load it's just the mouse and keyboard won't respond. I have done chkdsk and copied Ntldr and Ntdetect.com with no results. Is there something that I am overlooking. What else can I try?Are the keyboard and mouse USB? The reason your mouse and keyboard aren't working is because one computer used one set of keyboard and mouse and the other used another set. Thus they each have different drivers installed your computer can read and run windows of your one hardrive but i doesn't have the drivers on that hdd for your mouse and keyboard. You either need to put the native drive as master and the other drive as slave or you need to use a enclosure to allow your hardrive to act as an external harddrive. This is unlikely the issue as XP will load generic drivers for the keyboard and mouse... jenn i'd suggest buying a PS2 keyboard and mouse and try it on both machines...everyone should have one. Even if they sit in the closet most of the time... Quote from: jenn8485 on May 26, 2009, 01:12:41 PM Mouse and keyboard are not usb. When I connect the hard drives they are not connected at the same time. I had tried each one on my system to see if it was the mouse and keyboard or if it was something else. Yes they all have xp sp2 installed. She already has ps2'sI'd still replace them...how much are you going to be out ? ? 20 Bucks ?I have extras that I have tried but still nothing. I have even tried usb mouse and keyboard. |

Solve : Compressing C? |
Answer» On the properties window for my C: drive (local disk) it gives me the option of compressing it to save disk space. I have 7.69gb out of 30.5gb and I was wondering if this is a bad idea. I really would like to extend the life of my HDD without having to format it, so any disk saving ideas would be greatly apreciated.compressing may cause problem on pc's that don't SUPPORT the compressing. who knew. What computers do not support compression?compression is a feature of NTFS. It will obviously slow down disk reads/writes but wether that's noticable is a case of perception. Quote from: Helpmeh on May 28, 2009, 08:55:52 PM On the properties window for my C: drive (local disk) it gives me the option of compressing it to save disk space. I have 7.69gb out of 30.5gb and I was wondering if this is a bad ideaDo you have a lot of games installed? You do disk cleanup and defrag right? Quote from: Helpmeh on May 28, 2009, 08:55:52 PM I really would like to extend the life of my HDD without having to format itWhy not? Do you not have your Windows CD? Have you not backed up recently? Can't you put some stuff on that flash drive?I used to compress "Old Files", and typically it would save less than 10 MBytes. One day I tried, and it promised 100 MBytes improvement because I had not used it for a little while, and about one PERCENT of the files exceeded the 30 day threshold. What it delivered was a 50 MByte degradation in the other direction, AND it took over one hour to do so. Many of the "old files" were vital system files in which Windows File Protection takes an unhealthy INTEREST; and because Windows does not trust Windows (and neither do I) it mistrusted its own compression and re-validated all these system files, and after validation it dumped duplicate copies in system32/dllcache. INFINITELY WORSE - several files failed validation, and W.F.P. demanded a Windows CD which was never supplied - ACER pre-installed XP on my PC. The above disasters were unleashed when I allowed Windows to choose what to compress, and it chose to deal with only one percent of the drive. I dread to think of the results had I told it to compress the whole drive ! ! As I said, I do not trust Windows, so before "cleaning up" the PC I created a disk partition image, and I immediately recovered form disaster. Since then I noticed that the disc partition image immediately after compressing files are a little larger than the image taken before. This is because the new compressed file takes less disk space, but still holds the original data, and in addition holds an extra overhead of some sort of (de)compression dictionary, and my archive system applies its own compression, so the end-product image is NOT affected by the size of the files it compresses, but IS controlled by the amount of data (including the extra overheads.) Regards Alan Quote from: Helpmeh on May 28, 2009, 08:55:52 PM I really would like to extend the life of my HDD without having to format it, so any disk saving ideas would be greatly apreciated.File/disk compression will not extend the life your your hard drive. Only compress or encrypt files that you have backed up. Introducing compression/encryption increases the difficulty of RECOVERING files in the event of HARDWARE or software failure.Personally i recommend staying away from it... As Rob stated it can be troublesome recovering compressed files. I'm a big fan of just simply adding more storage space. In your case if you were to buy a larger HDD you could simply "clone" the old drive to it and be back up running in about 25 minutes with room to spare... |

Solve : How can I put my System Mechanic onto another CD? |
Answer» I recently installed System Mechanic and I want to have a backup disc in case I lose the one I BOUGHT. But the problem is I'm not sure how to do so. So if anyone can help that would be sensational. You can't. Then, the best place for System Mechanic, and any other "miracle tool" is the waste basket. QUOTE from: Broni on March 23, 2009, 10:41:50 PM the best place for System Mechanic, and any other "miracle tool" is the waste basket. I disagree. Althrough I maintain my PCs manually, I also have installed System Mechanic on several others for individuals that are not pc literate. If set up properly, it does a very adequate job of keeping the system clean and running efficently. Not one has informed me of any problems. To the best of my knowledge copying a cd for backup is not a VIOLATION. It can usually be accomplished by doing a disc to disc copy.it's pointless to make a backup anyway because you can DOWNLOAD it from the web (I mean from their web site). My Aunt is paranoid about system mechanic and runs it almost everyday on the "full" setting. Of course the reason her system is SLOW is because SMSystemAnalyzer.exe is constantly running as well as it's services. And then there is of course the "random" corrupted of installations that occurs after running it's registry tools... But goodness no, it's not System mechanics fault- it must be a virus! I better run a full system scan again! |

The computer was slow, mcaffee and spyweeper couldn't delete the file so I took out the emachines operating system disk cd. I went through the 1st recovery mode that was supposed to create a BACK up and install a new fresh version of windows, (don't worry about any data, I backed all of it up prior to this). When the computer was done recovering, it prompted me to restart it. It kept restarting, getting to the area where the windows xp logo shows up and shows the loading bar, after that, it continues to reboot itsself... Never getting to the login or home screen with the start button. I tried a complete restore, the one that erases everything - Same problem. I cannot boot into safe mode. When I press f8 at start up and select boot to last good configuration, it gives me the option to select "windows xp media center edition". Then it tells me that windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWS/system32/config/SYSTEM that's all I have tried. I have okay computer knowledge (ish) and the computer is out of warranty. Whatcan I do??? Thanks a ton!!! it tells me that windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWS/system32/config/SYSTEMMeans, the installation didn't go through in correct way. There are quiet a few possible reasons. I'd start with cleaning WELL your recovery CD, and go for another reinstall. Hard drive problem may be another reason. The recovery cd has some scratches, none look major though? What should I do now, I tried a complete recovery to no avail. Should I buy the actual windows xp cd? Should I buy a new recvery cd, or is there something else... The computer worked fine (just the slow and painful viruses) 2 days ago.Scratches can cause problem like this. eMachine should have recovery partition, if it wasn't deleted. Try to press Ctrl+F11, when computer starts.I pressed f11 and got to the of angel recovery screen (like EVERYTIME before - exact same options), nothing changed. How can I be sure that I actually used the recovery cd properly if I got the same recovery options without the cd? The cd says only to insert and it will prompt me for the rest... What should I do?If i SIMPLY bought a Windows XP Home CD, could I just reinstall everything? Would that work? Or are there any other options....Ctrl+F11, not F11 You could buy Windows CD, but when you use recovery CD, or partition, you don't have to worry about drivers.I held both cntrl and f11 down. It gave me 2 options. Press R for recovery options or f11 for recovery. Both led me through the same pc angel program. Both didn't do the trick (I tried the recovery with each of them). The only time I got the 1st option was when the cd was in. Otherwise only the second (f11) option appeared. The only one that mentioned a partition was the one that appeared when the cd was in (r for recovery) and that one said a partition would be used if no cd was in. Nothing new - any other options. What kind of drivers are you talking about? Well, if you reinstall Windows, using Windows CD, some drivers will be installed, but some not. Luckily, eMachines has pretty decent web site, regarding drivers, so you should be OK. Better and cheaper to order your Recovery Software directly from eMachines...That's true, but it's be nice to have Windows CD as well. They just may send him that if that's what he requests... |

Solve : How do I encrypt my wireless signal and keep people from stealing from me?!?? |
Answer» I have Qwest modem & router combo 2 Wire SSID 238 and recently I have been getting kicked off the internet. I have to un plug at night because I am sure that some one is hijacking my signal. I live close to an apartment complex so it happens a lot and although I am secured it seems that I have been hijacked daily and not necessarily by the same person. I no longer have access to my IP address or the web site through Qwest that allows me to make changes to my signal or encrypt. I know very little about these things but was told that this is my problem. It has gotten so bad that my lap top has been compromised and despite the fact that I have recovered multiple times I still can’t fix the problem… it is so frustrating. My hope is that if I can stop them from stealing from me I can recover again and fix the problem. HELP!!! How do I recover control over my IP address so that I can make changes to my wireless, and how do I ensure that my laptop is not compromised again. I need to know what steps to take in order to encrypt my signal and firewall these idiots out of my laptop! I also recently discovered that I was being used as an outside server or drone, AND that I had a massive virus… ARG! I have downloaded everything form AVG to purchasing Trend Micro and Web Root Spy KEEPER, but nothing helps! What can I do to REALLY protect myself!!?!?!?!?!?! I am really getting SICK of having to recover my laptop, as I mentioned I have had to do that now more then a dozen times. It is to the point that I cannot download my updates anymore, so I have no real security on my computer. I have been locked out of my own laptop. The hacker has disabled all of my admin ability to download ANYTHING!!!!!! GRRRR!!!! HELP!!!!!! I think I may also have ANOTHER virus because my computer is super slow and LOCKS up multiple times per day, as well as I am re directed to unknown sites and I have pop ups all day despite having a pop up blocker!!!! I am ready to loose my mind!!!! I am not kidding! It does'nt sound like the problem is coming in through your router but a virus within your computer (trojan). You need to use anti-virus software WHILST being offline may be Nortons or even windows defender and run a full systems scan. Then I would completely remove your router software and re-install. When you re-install make sure you set a WPAK key (password) also ensure your router is set to public use and not private. In public other computers can not view or access other computers on the network. Also you mentioned this 'person' has taken your admin off, it has to be turned on, on one of your profiles or they would not have admin ability either. I'm no expert though mate so I may be wrong but what I've told you is what I know. Let me know how you get on.to set your routers settings manually do this |

Solve : Troublesome Formated Computer? |

Answer» Recently I formatted a seemingly hopeless computer. After downloading much software and many drivers though, I still am having problems. When running Java Script PROGRAMS for extended periods of time (from 15 minutes to an hour), the program locks up, and must be closed. Furthermore, the game Oblivion refuses to OPEN correctly. (Installed fine, and brings up the start SCREEN, but won't RUN the game. DVDs are able to be read, but freeze up the computer shortly after they start. Things seem to get more more laggy then they should at times too. Recently I formatted a There is the answer. I seemed hopeless. Now you know. My guess is dirty power supply. I don't mean dusty. But the COMPONENTS are old and it is not giving good filtered power. Just a guess, but a decent power supply is always a good investment. And less money that a new motherboard. |

Solve : Very strange problem. Please help? |

Answer» All of a sudden i am unable to load a particular website on both my COMPUTERS on my network. I have tried everything i can think of & when i connect to a different network the website loads fine. I have EVEN changed my router but this website still only loads a bit of text which takes forever & no images. It SEEMS to me that the PROBLEM resides with my ISP. But if so why would only 1 website be affected? What protection apps do you have ? ?just spybot resident shield & windows firewall. Are you doing a referral business thru that site ? ? Have you contacted your ISP to see if they have blocked it ? ? Quote just spybot resident shield & windows firewall. No AV?? No im not doing a referral business through that site. I will contacting my ISP shortly to see if they are blocking it but if they were blocking it surely it wouldn't load up all. After a while you get all of the text but none of the images & its really slow. What's AV? Anti-Virus ...such as Avast NOD, AVG etc.I have AVG up-2 date. I have performed a virus scan, spyware scan, malware scan etc.It started working again this afternoon so i assumed it was fixed somehow & its not working again. What the *censored* is going on? This is crazy.See, if you can access it, using http:\\124.42.15.198hi, i tried to ping the Ip address & it timed out so i changed the DNS servers addresses on my router to open DNS & it now works. yay |

Solve : file wont delete?? |
Answer» I have a .iuf file on my desktop (its COMPLETELY legal dont worry) and it wont delete! I have tried renaming it, moving it rebooting, everything. It just wont delete! I have even tried a program called unlocker and that wont delete it either! Any other ways I can unlock it? It keeps saying that a program is using it but I dont see anything open that would be using itThat's weird that unlocker can't. Of course I imagine it has other uses... It bypasses the WINDOWS file name checking so it can operate upon files with illegal chars in their names that got on the system somehow eg from a Mac or *nix system. Actually, computeruler, did you mean a UIF file? Big DVD image file created/used by MagicISO? If so, unmount the virtual drive. Then you can delete the file. Using Dias's method it says that it cant FIND the path specified. I know it is the right path for shure THOUGH computeruler, Be extremely careful when using del or erase with wildcards. First use dir with the wildcards to see what is found. Then substitute erase or del for dir. dir "\\?\C:\Myfile.iuf*" p.s. cd \ to the root directory before doing a dir search Quote from: computeruler on March 23, 2009, 01:37:46 PM Using Dias's method it says that it cant find the path specified. I know it is the right path for shure though How about this? Quote from: Me Actually, computeruler, did you mean a UIF file? Big DVD image file created/used by MagicISO? If so, unmount the virtual drive. Then you can delete the file.I made shure to even close the mouting program and it still wont delete using that command I tried the dir thing to and that found nothing too Quote from: computeruler on March 23, 2009, 01:43:38 PM I made shure to even close the mouting program and it still wont delete using that command So it is a UIF file (and not an IUF file like you posted?) And it has been mounted? I still think this is where the problem is. I said that? woops ya its a uif. It has been mounted and there was another one that I mounted that deleted fine but this one just wont No mounting software is even running right now either Quote from: computeruler on March 23, 2009, 01:50:02 PM I said that? woops ya its a uif. It has been mounted and there was another one that I mounted that deleted fine but this one just wont Is it mounted right now? You could try safe mode, or you can do a system restore to a point before you installed MagicISO.not mounted i guess I will try safe mode then |

Solve : Network vista laptop with XP home laptop over wireless network? |
Answer» HI I am TRYING to create a network between my two laptops, one has vista HOME premium and the other has XP home. I want to network them wirelessly using my linksys routerLook here http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/a/connecttwocomp.htm Depending on what your looking to do, gauge the security risk's carefully. One good way is to use VNC virtual networking client, but if you opt for this option and both laptops are connected 24/7 to the internet without the protection of a hardware firewall then choosing secure passwords is a must as is buying a virtual private networking firewall LIKE a DrayTrek. |

Solve : Can't get Windows to start, help appreciated :]? |
Answer» So as of a few days ago, whenever I go to turn my computer on, I'm greeted by a black and white screen with message telling me it doesn't know what the problem is as well as what is pretty much the Windows Advanced Options Menu. I can navigate this page and select any of the five options [3 SAFE modes, last known good configuration, and restart normally] but doing so yields the same result every time no matter what I choose: windows seems to be loading for a few minutes, then I get a flash of text with a half second opportunity to press esc or F1. [boot loader]paste it into Notepad. Save it as boot.ini Transfer it to a floppy. Access Recovery Console again, and copy the new file to C directory.i feel terrible for asking, but i don't particularly know how to do that There is nothing to feel terrible about Which part of my post does need to be explained better?HELLO, I have the same issue. If I follow the steps for the recovery, will I loose the pictures and files on my hard drive? Thanks!!!bilzman Please, start your own topic.Sorry, I am new to this forum, please forgive my intrusion. No problem Welcome aboard after i access the Recovery Console, how do i go about copying the new file to C directory? and then do i necessarily have to copy the file to a floppy? or would a CD suffice? aaand my operating system is listed under H://, i'm not sure if that's significant. thankyou again soooo much for your help.Oh, now I see what your problem is. Windows is installed on H drive, not C drive. Go back to Recovery Console, and in all commands replace C with H. |
