1. Grafting is a technique of inserting a part of one plant into another plant in such a way that the two will unite and continue their growth.1. Stems that form roots while still attached to the parent plants are called layers. Propagating the plants in this method is known as layering.

Layering: A branch of plant is pulled towards the ground and a part of it is covered with moist soil leaving the tip of branch exposed above the ground. After some time new root developes from the part of branch buried in the soil. The branch is then cut off from the parent plant.

Examples: Jasmine, lemon, guava, strawberry.
