Answer» Solution :Androecium is composed of stamens. Each stamen represents male reproductive organ. Each stamen consists of a FILAMENT and anther. Pollen grains are produced in pollen-sacs. Each anther is usually bilobed and each lobe has two chambers, the pollen-sacs. Pollen grains are produced in pollen-sacs. A sterile stamen is CALLED staminode. Filament and anther are CONNECTED by connective. Stamens of flower may be united with other members such as petals or among themselves. Epipetalous : When stamens are attached to the petals, they are epipetalous e.g. brinjal. Epiphyllous : When stamens are attached to the PERIANTH they are epiphyllous as in the flower lily Polyandrous : The stamens in a flower may either remain free is called Polyandrous. Monoadelphous : The stamens may be united into one bunch or one BUNDLE is called monoa delphaes c.g. china rose. Diadelphous and Polydelphous : Stamens may be united in two bundles is called Diadelphous. Stamens may be united into more than two bundles is called Polydelphous stamen. There may be a variation in the length of filaments within a flower, e.g. Salvia and mustard. |
