Solve : I can't see connected computers using my network on my system?

Answer»

I just created a connection and a friend connected to it. I have enabled sharing on the advance network settings. The system SHOWS connected but I cannot access the public folder of the system connected to my network. I cannot even SEE the system on my networks. I don't know what is wrong. Can some one help me. I want to send something from my harddrive to his. My system is windows 7 and his is windows 7 too.Public Folder Permissions likely need exceptions to allow him to access yours and you to access his.

What I like to do when it comes to sharing data between 2 or more systems is make a shared folder at say C:\Data_Share$ and Map to it from other computers so that C:\Data_Share$ on the host computer is say the Z: drive on all other systems that access it. You then can place data into this location for all other workstations to access or the workstations can place data at this shared location and you then have a copy of what they are sharing .... which is hopefully legal to share. $ hides the share btw so its not out in the open, but can be accessed by Start -> Search via typing in the path of C:\Data_Share$

These days with USB DRIVES, I just use an external drive or USB pendrive to transfer anything important via sneaker network. The only time I create shares is when the share is permanent to be used more than once etc such as if I am using ANOTHER computers extra space for redundant backup across 2 computers etc.ok. But I want to know why those computers connected to my network does not show in my Networks. This means we are connected but not really connected. They will probably show up if FIREWALLS are shut off.Ok I thought so too. But on shutting down my firewall, I still experience the same thing. Can you please illustrate how I can successfully connect another system to mine from the beginning. I also temporarily shared my hard drive so I could access the file directly from the other system because the file I want to transfer is very large.
