F:\Documents and Settings\J>Traceroute looks good and if you've tried another computer on the same connection connected to the same port on the router and it worked fine I'd have to agree with you that maybe it is something to do with the computer and not the connection.

Have you tried downloading and updating the drivers for your network card on the computer. Maybe you've got an issue with the drivers on the computer.im hooked soley to the modem right now and things are lightning fast........ i dont know.. maybe its karma? any other ideas are welcomed If you add the router to the modem (without the 60ft cables or other cables you were using) does it still go fast?nope...... it just goes fast on all other computers and when MY computer is soley hooked to the modem.....is there settings on my puter (or elsewhere) that i need to change because i am using a new router.... Netgear RP614v3 to a Netgear WGR614v9........?I'd try to get new ethernet card driver (uninstall current one). If that doesn't work, I'd buy a new card ($15).how do i find out:

a)which card i have (ethernet)
b)its driver location (on the web?)
c)steps on doing this whole process....Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under line Debug - PCI silly major geeks was taking its time so i went to softpedia...... anyways, here's what you asked for:

certain websites such as this one and google, work super quick.... others like majorgeeks, espn, and more take what seems like dial-up forever!Unfortunately, you'll have to open your computer case, and look at your ethernet card.
Here, it explains why: http://www.cnet.com.tw/download/pro200wl.htm
After you identify P/N number, download appropriate driver, and leave it alone.

Go Start>Run, type in:
devmgmt.msc
Click OK.

In Device Manager, go to Network Adapters, right click on CNet FAST200WL PCI Wake On LAN Fast Ethernet Adapter, click Properties, then Driver tab.
Click on Uninstall button.
After uninstall is completed, go to freshly downloaded file, unzip it, and double click on setup.exe file to began installation.

P. S. This is very old product, so all the above procedure may have no positive effects.i did this last night and NO change....... guess it has to be the router.

why is netgear making ME pay to ship the product because its defective?
is there any way around this???I'd try new ethernet card, first, since yours is rather ancient one.
