Answer» Hi,
I only recently got a laptop and started dealing with wireless networks for the first time in my life, hence I'm not yet that familiar with troubleshooting them and am looking for some help from the pros!
While I was in my home country I was able to connect to my friend's wireless network which uses the 802.11n standard just fine. Now that I'm visiting a friend in England for quite a long period of time, I can not connect to the network in his home wirelessly, EVEN I can see the network, am sitting next to the router and the signal is very strong, and I am 100% sure I type the network password correctly. I can connect to the router and the Internet via a cable just fine though, which I'm very glad about, but it's a bit of a pain not being able to just move my laptop around the house when I feel like it.
My friend is able to connect to the router on his desktop and his brother on his laptop, both wirelessly without any PROBLEMS. ACCORDING to them, they just typed in the password and everything has always worked just fine. They don't know anything about their router or the settings so they can not provide me with any information.
The network uses the 802.11g standard, which should be fine as my card supports B, g and n standards. I've updated the drivers on my laptop about a week ago and even reset my ip-address yesterday just in case. And of course done the router reset by keeping it off the wall for at least a minute, starting the router first, then my laptop.
To me it seems like it's more of a problem with the router and that there could be a limiatation to how many ip-addresses are being allowed to connect to the router. I remember my friend saying he originally connected to the router on his XBOX wirelessly, but switch to a cable in some point. He can't remember when or why he started using a cable. But yea, I can certainly be wrong here!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The greater detail the better, I don't want to mess things up by changing any settings when I'm not 100% sure what I am doing.
Thanks,
MeimaiHello! try turning off your computers wireless card. reboot your computer then reliable your wireless card.
once you have completed the above then try reconnecting to your wireless router Problem fixed now. Apparently I was ment to press some buttons on the router at the same time when pressing "Connect" on the computer in order for the router to let a new computer to connect.O i have never heard of that before
