Solve : Seemingly Sporadic Router? |
|
Answer» Not necessarily TROUBLESHOOTING here, just trying to understand something.
So... The first test, tells me I can see the router from outside the network. the second test tells me the network can see the router from inside the network (ie, the first goes from my laptop to the router's antenna; the second goes from the other router through the wires and into the port on the back o fthe router). If I pass both those tests, the network is fine; it's the device that needs to clear its cache (or something), right? (Others insist on rebooting the entire network. I say that's not the solution...) Is there a reason to why the Net 2 router cant be acting as a repeater of Net 1 router and do away with the network bridge that you are essentially using over the power line adapters? In every ENVIRONMENT I have tried to use them they are a royal problem and not stabile. One good test would be the following from Net 2: Connect to Net 2 and perform a persistent ping such as... ping www.google.com -t And watch the info from the command shell. Look for lost packets, failed responses as well as excessive latency which would point out an issue with either the computer connected via wifi to the router of Net 2 or a power line network bridge adapter issue, which is where I believe your issue is located in this non ideal setup. There is one really, really good reason. I have no f[swearie]ing idea how to do that. http://lifehacker.com/how-to-extend-your-wi-fi-network-with-an-old-router-915783308 |
