So they (choose) (keep) silent.राजा अर्द्ध-बर्बर था। लोग उससे (डर) थे। न्याय (देना) को उसका विधान हास्यास्पद था। लेकिन (भयातुर) नागरिकों के पास इतना हिम्मत नहीं (है) कि उसके विरोध में (बोल)। दोषियों का जीवन पूरी तरह से भाग्य के खेल पर (निर्भर) था। लोग अच्छी तरह से (जानना) कि यदि वे (हस्तक्षेप) करेंगे तो उन्हें भी वही सजा (मिलना) जो उस दोषी को मिलने वाला था। इसलिए वे चुप (चुनना) (रहना)। |

So they chose to keep silent. राजा अर्द्ध-बर्बर था। लोग उससे भयभीत थे। उसके न्याय देने का विधान बड़ा मजाकिया था। लेकिन भयभीत लोगों के पास इतना हिम्मत नहीं था कि वे इसका विरोध कर सके। दोषी का जीवन पूरी तरह से उसके अपने भाग्य के खेल पर निर्भर था। लोग यह भली-भांति जानते थे कि यदि उसने हस्तक्षेप किया तो उसे भी वही सजा भुगतना पड़ेगा जो उस दोषी को दिया जाएगा। इसलिए वे चुप रहना ही पसंद करते थे। |
