Answer» From the Chapter: The Three OrdersIn the 14th Century, a crisis hit Europe. The climatic change gave way to bitter cold. It became difficult to grow crops. The potency of soil was exhausted due to the extensive agriculture in the previous century. Because of the reclamation of agricultural land, pastures reduced. Population growth put pressure on the limited resources and soon there was famine. Trade was hit by severe shortage of metal money because of exhaustion of Silver Mines in Serbia and Austria. All this was followed by the Black Plague in 1347-1350, which 20% of the European Population.Social Unrest began, there was political unrest because the population scarcity made the working class more expensive and old feudal relation could not be imposed, even though these rebellions were crushed. This made the Autocrats more powerful as the division of power to the vassals was discontinued. When the Political system became stable again with the end of 15th Century, the 16 Century started the modern period, with important developments in humanistic Ideas, politics, medicine etc taking place in Italy and the start of the Renaissance that brought back the knowledge of the past centuries
