1.

0.76 gram mixture of H2 and O2 occupy 2000 cm3 of volume at 300K and 105 Pascal pressure, then molar ratio of Hydrogen and oxygen is

Answer»

For mixture.

PV = nRT

1 x 2 = nTotal x 1/12 x 300

nTotal = 24/300 = 0.08 Mole

\(n_{H_{2}}\)+ \(n_{O_{2}}\) = 0.08

(i) \(W_{H_{2}}\) + \(W_{O_{2}}\)= 0.76

(ii) \(W_{H_{2}}\)/2 + \(W_{O_{2}}\)/32 = 0.08

16\(W_{H_{2}}\) + \(W_{O_{2}}\)= 0.08 x 32;

\(W_{H_{2}}\) = (0.08 x 32 - 0.76 / 15) = 0.12 ;

\(W_{O_{2}}\) = 0.64

So \(n_{H_{2}}\) = 0.12/2 = 0.06 ;

\(n_{o_{2}}\) = 0.64 / 32 = 0.02

= 3
