1. Calculate the Normality of 500 ml of 0.4 M sulphuric acid solution?

Answer»

There is a relation b/w Normality and Molarity :

For acids.

Normality = Molarity xBasicity.

wherebasicityis the number ofH+ions a molecule of an acid can give.

Here, Normality is 0.4 and No. Of H+ ions in H2SO4 soln. is 2

Now, Put the values in to the formula,

Normality = Molarity xBasicity.

0.4 = molarity × 2 (no. Of H+ ions)

Molarity = O.4/2 =0.2 Moles per Litre
