Answer» 1. The state of a system refers to the conditions of existence of a system when its macroscopic properties have definite values. If any of the macroscopic properties of the system changes, the state of the system will change. The measurable properties required to describe the state of a system are called state variables or state functions. A state function is a property of a system whose value depends only upon the initial and final states of the system and is independent of the path by which this state has been reached. Properties whose values depend on the path followed are called path functions. 2. State variables/State functions – Temperature, Pressure, Enthalpy, Entropy. |
