Any individual or organisation can open various types of DEPOSIT accounts with any commercial bank and such accounts can be in the form of

savings deposit

current deposit

recurring deposit

fixed deposit

reinvestment deposit

flexi deposit etc.,

The abovementioned accounts are KNOWN as bank deposit accounts and normally people used to say as - bank accounts

The following is the step by step guide to open one bank account:

Visit a bank BRANCH nearest to your residence or your work place

Obtain one application form - say savings deposit application form

Fill up the application form and sign in the appropriate places

Sign the specimen signature card provided by the bank at appropriate places

Affix PHOTOS in the specified places in the application form and specimen signature card

Enclose copy of the document for address proof - AADHAAR card/Voter id card/Driving licence - any one document

Enclose copy of the document for identity proof - AADHAAR card/Voter id card/Driving licence/PAN card - anyone document

The bank official will verify the above documents and once found CORRECT, he will advise you to remit the minimum amount to the teller

Now the account is opened with the bank

The bank official will provide a kit consisting of pass book; debit card; PIN number in a closed cover; instructions for operations in the account; instructions for using debit card etc.,

The account is opened and now you are free to operate the account
