Answer» Specific Heat : The amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of 1 kg substance by 1° C. Basics of Experiment; Understanding:1) When hot and cold substances are mixed in a insulated container such as a calirimeter , heat will flow from hot substance to cold substance .2) Assuming heat absorbed by the container and heat lost to the environment are both negligible .Then, we will use Heat lost by the hot substance = Heat gained by the cold substance. In this experiment, we will find that temperature change will be different for different substances. Hence, different substances has different specific heat capacities. |
