1.

\( 4 . \)5. The length of a line segment is of 10 units and the coordinates of one end-point are \( (2,-3) \). If the abscissa of the other end is 10 , find the ordinate of the other end.

Answer»
A(10,X)______________10______________B(2,-3)

(10-2)² + (x+3)²=10²

8² + x²+9+6x=10²

x²+6x+64+9=100

x²+6x+73-100=0

x²+6x-27=0

x²+9x-3x-27=0

x(x+9)-3(x+9)=0

(x+9) (x-3)=0

x+9=0  ||  x-3=0

x=-9  ||  x=3

so,cordinates of A are either (10,-9) or (10,3)
it can y=-9 and y=3 using distance formula
