4) Water destroys Grignard reagents why? |
|
Answer» Grignard reagent is not prepared in the solvent which has acidic hydrogen because it react to form alkane . It is highly reactive and water or alcohols would protonate and destroy the Grignard reagent as the grignard carbon is highly nucleophilic. Dry ether doesnot give H to the grignard reagent that is why it is used as solvent . Like my answer if you find it useful! |
