In this chapter – Money for Class 5, we will be solving problems involving money. We will learn to convert Paise into RUPEES and Rupees into Paise. Let’s learn some BASIC facts first.

100 paise = 1 rupee

Therefore, 1 paise = ONE-hundredth of a rupee = 1/100 rupee = 0.01 rupee

Similarly, 2 paise = 0.02 rupee, 3 paise = 0.03 rupee, 4 paise = 0.04 rupee and so on.

Also, 20 paise = 0.20 rupee, 30 paise = 0.30 rupee, 40 paise = 0.40 rupee and so on.

To convert paise into rupees put decimal point after 2 digits from the right.

150 paise = 100 paise + 50 paise = ₹ 1 + ₹ 0.50 = ₹ 1.50
