50g of 10% barium chloride is mixed with 50g of 10% sulphate in a closed vessel. after sometime 6.83g of barium sulphate was precipitated. Besides, the reaction mixture contained 90g of water and sodium chloride. what is the amount of sodium chloride formed? |
|
Answer» lver nitrate (AgNO 3 ) reacts with sodium chloride (NaCl) a WHITE precipitate of SILVER chloride (AGCL) is formed which is highly insoluble in water, along with formation of sodium nitrate (NaNO 3 ).SINCE (AgCl) is insoluble in water it will precipitate out and (NaNO 3 ) is soluble in water so it will remain dissolved in the mixture. This reaction is an EXAMPLE of double displacement reaction and it occurs as follows:-AgNO 3 + NaCl→AgCl + NaNO 3 |
