x + √(x - 2) = 4

√(x - 2) = (4 -x)

x - 2 = (4 - x)²

x - 2 = 16 + x² - 8x

x² - 9x + 18 = 0

x² - 6x - 3x + 18 = 0

x ( x - 6) - 3 ( x - 6) = 0

(x - 3)(x - 6) = 0

So, x = 3 and x = 6
