Angle of minimum deviation (D) = 30°

Angle of prism (A) = ?

A+D = 2i₁

⇒ A = 2i₁ – D

⇒ A = 2(40°) -30°

= 80° – 30°

= 50°

∴ Angle of prims (A) = 50°

Angle of refraction (r₁ ) = ?

We know r₁ = A/2 [∴ r₁ +r₂ = A]

⇒r₁ = 50°/2 = 25°

∴ Angle of refraction (r₁) = 25°
