1.

A number consists of two digits whose sum is 8. If 18 is subtracted from the number, the digits are reversed. The number is:1. 322. 713. 534. 80

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 3 : 53

Given:

The sum of digits of the number = 8.

Calculation:

Let the two-digit number be 10x + y

Where the unit digit and the tenth place digit of the number is y and x respectively.

After reversing the digits the number becomes 10y + x.

According to the 1st condition,

x + y = 8    ----(1)

According to the 2nd condition,

10x + y - 18 = 10y + x

⇒ 9x - 9y = 18

⇒ 9(x - y) = 18

⇒ x - y = 2    ----(2)

by adding equation (1) and equation (2), we get

2x = 10

⇒ x = 5

On putting the value of x in equation (1), we get

5 + y = 8

⇒ y = 8 - 5

⇒ y = 3

So, the two-digit number is 10 × 5 + 3

∴ The two-digut number is 53.
