1.

A piece of wire 48 cm long is bent to form arectangle whose length is twice its width.Calculate its area.

Answer»

Explanation:

Solution;

given,

length of a wire = 48CM

let the width of rectangle is X cm

then,length= 2x cm

perimeter of rectangle = 48cm

now,

perimeter = 2*(I+b)

48 =2*(2x+x)

48=2*3x

48/2=3x

24. = 3x

x=8 cm

length = 2x=2*8=16cm

width =x=8 cm

now,

AREA= length *width

=16*8

=144cm^2
