Velocity after falling through a height of 4.9 m

v2 - u2 = 2as

v2 - 0 = 2(9.8) (4.9)

v = 9.8 m/s

Time taken to fall by 4.9 m

9.8 = 0 + 9.8t

⇒ t = 1 sec

Rest of 3 sec it went inside water with constant speed 9.8 m/s

∴ Depth of water 9.8 x 3 = 29.4 cm
