Adsorption is always exothermic in nature. Explain |
|
Answer» According to thermodynamics, ΔG = ΔH - T.ΔS . Adsorption is a spontaneous process, therefore ΔG is negative since adsorption decreases entropy ( ΔS = –ve ). i.e., –T. ΔS = + ve . As a result of adsorption. ΔH has to be negative if ΔG to be negative. Hence adsorption is always exothermic. |
