Answer» David Mandessi Diop (1927-1960) was a revolutionary African poet born in France. His parents were of West African descent. He visited Africa only in the 1950s. However, the poet expresses his love for Africa. He was a revolutionary poet and in his poems he gave the message to Africans to bring about change and freedom. He was involved in a movement started by Black writers and artists protesting against French colonialism and its effects on African culture and values. His views were published in Presence Africaine and in his book of poems Coups de pillon. |
