Answer» Answer: (a) RED Phosphorus/Iodine Explanation: In GENERAL, using P/X₂ or PX₃ or PX₅ with an alcohol gives the respective alkyl HALIDE (where X stands for any halogen). So, using red phosphorus and iodine will YIELD alkyl halide. Note: ZnCl₂/HCl is called Lucas reagent which produces alkyl chloride when reacted with alcohol.
