An aeroplane at 360 km hr-1 has its wing banked at an angle 20°. Find the radius of the circle traversed by the plane, [g = 10ms-2 ]

Answer»

Speed of the plane = 360 km/hr

\(\frac {360 \times 10^3}{3600}\) = 100 ms-1

we know that tan θ = \(\frac {v^2}{rg}\)

⇒ r = \(\frac {v^2}{tan \,\theta \times g}\) = \(\frac {100 \times 100}{tan(20°)\times 10}\)

= 2.747 km.
