An item is sold at a loss of 10%. Had it sold for Rs. 9 more, a profit of 25/2% would have gained. What is the cost price of the item?

Answer»

A. 48
B. 58
C. 40
D. 20

Solution :TOTAL sutdents =2000
LET, students appear in exam C only =a
Total students appeared in exam B=720
Ratio of number appeard in exam B and C only =`2:3`
Students appeared in exam A andC both =a/2
Numberof students appeared in all three exams
`=(4)/(100)xx2000=80`
Number of students appeared in B exam only = No. ofStudents appeared in B and C only = 3x
Number of students appeared in exam A and B only
`=(2)/(3)xx3x=2x`

Now, `2x+3x+3x+80=720`
`RARR x=80`
and, ` 12.5x +a+(a)/(2)=2000`
`(5a)/(a)=1000`
`rArr a=400`
Students appeared in atmost two examsltbgt `=360+240+400+120+160+240+400+=1920`
