An organic liquid vaporises at a temperature below its boiling point in steam distillation. Assign reason. |
| Answer» Solution :Steam distillation is ACTUALLY distillation under REDUCED PRESSURE. The vapour pressure of both water vapours and ORGANIC liquid placed in the distillation flask BECOME equal to the atmospheric pressure. This means that both of them will vaporise at a temperature which is less than their normal boiling point temperatures. | |
