Answer» Novels in south India came into existence during the period of colonial rule. Some early English novels were translated into the Indian language, but soon it was realized that the readers are not familiar with the English culture of characters in the novel like their clothes, style of speaking and their manners. So instead of direct translation of an English novel, novels were written in Malayalam in the manner of English novel books. This lead the growth of novels in South India. |
