Atomic hydrogen combines with atmost all elements but molecular hydrogen does not. Explain. |
| Answer» Solution :Atomic hydrogen is HIGHLY UNSTABLE and hence it is very reactive. Therefore, it combines with ALMOST all the elements. In contrast, the BOND dissociation energy of H-H bond is very high (`435.88 KJ "mol"^(-1)`) . As a result , molecular hydrogen is almost insert at room temperature and hence REACTS only with a few elements. | |
