Ball-bearings are used in machinery. Why? |

Answer» Since rolling friction is much less than the sliding friction. so we convert the sliding friction into rolling friction. This is done by using ball-bearing arrangement. Ball-bearing are placed in between axle and hub of the wheel. The ball-bearing, tend to roll round the axle as the wheel turns and as such the frictional force is diminished. |
