It had many challenges like: •it had low temperature •deforestation was high because of cutting of trees •cost of transportation was high. Then a family of fine iron masters developed. They were called the darbys of Shropshire. •1st Abraham Darby invented the blast furnace in 1709. Coke was used to get fine iron (pig iron) out of iron ore •2nd Abraham Darby invented the wrought iron which was of a better quality and provided higher level of heat.•3rd Darby constructed the first iron bridge in 1779.Apart from this Henry Corr invented the puddling furnace which seperated impurities from melted iron. He also invented rolling mill which made thin sheets and bars of iron. Then in 1770 John Wilkinson made iron chairs and iron tanks(vats). | |
