Calcium Hydroxide cannot be used to remove permanent hardness of water why?

Answer»

Solution :`MgCl_2+Ca(OH)_2toMg(OH)_2+CaCl_2` REMOVAL of permanent hardness means (Mg &Ca) chlorides and sulphates are CONVERTED to insoluble CARBONATES but we can use `Ca(OH)_2` means formed calcium chlorides only does not form insoluble carbonates
