i. R1 and R2 are connected in parallel. This combination (RP) is connected in series with R3.

∴ Total resistance, RT = RP + R3

RP\(\frac{R_1R_2}{R_1+R_2}=\frac{3\times6}{3+6}\) = 2 Ω

∴ RT = 2 + 5 = 7 Ω

ii. Total current: I = \(\frac{V}{R_T}=\frac{14}{7}\) = 2 A
