1.

Calculate the value of the resistance R in the circuit shown in the figure so that the current in the circuit is 0.2A. What would be the potential difference between points B and E?

Answer»

Here, RBCD = 5Ω + 10Ω = 15Ω
Effective resistance between B and E

1/RBE = 1/30 + 1/10 + 1/15 => RBE = 5Ω

Applying Kirchhoff’s Law
5 × 0.2 + R × 0.2 + 15 × 0.2 = 8 – 3

=> R =5Ω
Hence
VBE = IRBE
= 0.2 × 5 = 1volt
