Carboxylic ACIDS contain carboxyl group as a functional group, which is combination of carbonyl and HYDROXYL group.Whereas esters are Alkyl derivatives of carboxylic acids. Esters contain alkoxy carbonyl group as a functional group. This is combination of carbonyl and alkoxy group. Thus functional groups in carboxylic acid and esters are derivatives of carbonyl group. |
