Answer» Solution :SOLUBLE phosphates when added to HARD water form CALCIUM and magnesium phosphates, which are insoluble PRECIPITATES. Thus, as the calcium and magnesium ions are PRECIPITATED,the water becomes soft and can give lather with soap
