In this poem the poet uses perfect comparison between the nature and the poet. On one hand the poet presents the busy life of all the natural elements. He says that all the nature seems at work. The birds are flying and the bees are busy in collecting nectar. The rivers are flowing and the plants are bearing leaves and flowers. The spring season is fullof various activities.

But on the other hand the poet is idle. He is inactive and does not take inspiration after seeing the active form of nature. He realises that the blooming flowers and sparkling water of the river is not for him. He is still like the winter and winter is the sign of death. This comparison teaches an important lesson to the human being to be active in order to achieve the target of life to live a happy and successful life in this mortal world.

इस कविता में कवि प्रकृति तथा स्वयं के बीच में एक अद्भुत तुलना करता है। एक तरफ कवि प्रकृति के सक्रिय प्राकृतिक तत्त्वों को पेश करता है। वह कहता है कि प्रकृति काम कर रही है, पक्षी उड़े रहे हैं तथा मधुमक्खियाँ अमृत इकट्ठा करने में व्यस्त हैं। नदियाँ बह रही हैं तथा पेड़-पौधे फूल एवं पत्तियाँ पैदा कर रहे हैं। बसंत ऋतु विभिन्न क्रिया-कलापों में व्यस्त है। लेकिन दूसरी तरफ कवि निष्क्रिय है। वह कार्य नहीं करता है तथा प्रकृति के सक्रिय रूप को देखकर कोई प्रेरणा नहीं लेता है। वह महसूस करता है कि खिले हुए फूल तथा नदियों का चमकदार पानी उसके लिए नहीं है। वह सर्दी की तरह शान्त है तथा सर्दी मृत्यु का प्रतीक है। यह तुलना एक महत्त्वपूर्ण शिक्षा देती है कि मानव को जीवन का लक्ष्य पाने के लिए तथा इस नश्वर संसार में सफल और सुखी जीवन जीने के लिए सक्रिय होना चाहिए।
