1.

"David Copperfield is a great work of child psychology." Discuss.

Answer»

It is Charles Dickens, a famous victorian novelist, who has written 'David Copperfield' and has called it his most loved novel. The novel in auotbiographical in nature and based on Dickns's own childhood and life experience. As Dickens, I took like this novel very much. The novel is highly readable though, it is very exhaustive. The plot is not organic but different sub-plots are well connected with the main story. We feel emotional affinity with David particularly when Dickens describes his childhood. Dickens is best when he recalls childhood scenes. He deals with child psychology very realistically. The evils of victorian life, too, have been exposed. Mr.Creakle examplifies 'spare the rod, spoil the child'. The novel is full of humour and pathos at the same time. The pictures of domestic and social life are realistic.
