Define chrysophytes. Why are they considered as the cheif producer in the ocean

Answer» Chrysophytes are freshwater algae which are generally found in water having low level of calcium. It contains light harvesting complex like chlorophyll a and c, xanthophylls, beta-carotene, fucoxanthin etc. Thats why they are photosynthetic and can produce their own food, hence they are chief producers in oceans.
