Define ionic mobility. Write its relationship with relaxation time. How does one understand the temperature dependence of resistivity of a semiconductor? |
|
Answer» Mobility of an ion is defined as the drift velocity per unit electric field i.e., μ = vd/E = eτ /m Its unit is m2 /Vs. When temperature increases, covalent bonds of neighbouring atoms break and charge carrier become free to cause conductive, so resistivity of semi conductor decreases with rise of temperature. |
