Define the following term Sublimation,Tyndal effect |
|
Answer» Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas phase, without passing through the intermediate liquid phase. The Tyndall effect is the scattering of light as a light beam passes through a colloid. The individual suspension particles scatter and reflect light, making the beam visible. The amount of scattering depends on the frequency of the light and density of the particles. Conversion of a substance directly from solid to vapour or vice versa is called sublimation.Scattering of light due to the presence of small particles suspended in a heterogeneous mixture or colloidal solution is called Tyndall effect. |
