1.

Define the following terms:ElectrophoresisAdsorptionShape selective catalysis.

Answer»
  1. The movement of colloidal particles towards oppositely charged electrode in an electric field is called electrophoresis.
  2. Adsorption: The phenomenon of attracting and retaining the molecules of a substance on the surface of a liquid or solid leading to a higher concentration on the surface in comparison to the inner bulk is called adsorption.
  3. Shape-selective catalysis: The catalysis which depends upon the structure (size) of the catalyst and molecular size of a reactant and product molecule is called shape selective catalysis e.g. zeolite.
