Matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume.
Three states of matter
1) Solid
2) Liquid
3) Gas

Anything which occupies space and has it's own mass is called matter.

There are three prominent states of matter:-

1) Solid :~ like Rock, Door, Key etc...

2) Liquid :~ like water, oil, juice etc...

3) Gas :~ Oxygen(O2), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen (N2) etc...
