Define union territory and why are they different from states

Answer»

India Is A Great CountryA union territory is a type of administrative division in the Republic of India. Unlike states, which have their own governments, union territoriesare ruled directly by the UnionGovernment (central government), hence the NAME "union territory".
.
The only thing that makes a UT diff from a state is that it is under the DIRECT control of the central govt. And as impt DECISIONS have to made by the state govt. Regarding a particular state... In case of a UT, they are made by the central and it has some special powers as well.
Thanks..
