Spirulina or Methylophilus methylotropus can be cultured as food source. Spirulina a rich source of protein produces large quantity of food rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates and vitamins. It has been estimated that about 250 gm of methylophilus methylotropus produces about 25 tonnes of protein per day.
