Derivation of doppler efect

Answer» The apparent change in frequency due to relative motion between the source and the listener is called Doppler Effect. A station master hears a continuous low intensity sound of the horn of a diesel locomotive fast approaching the station. As it is a pass through station where the train has no designated halt, the station master shows the green flag. The pitch of the sound of the horn increases fast as the locomotive approaches the station and decreases fast as it passes though the station even though horn is emitting a sound with a constant pitch.
