Describe any four organisation barriers of effective communication.

Answer» The barriers to communication in the organisations can be broadly grouped as: semantic barriers,psychological barriers, organisational barriers, and personal barriers. These are briefly discussed below:
1. Semantic Barriers: This barrier is related with the words, signs and figures used in the communication.Sometimes they cannot convey the same message which they want to. It can be
(i) badly expressedmessage
(ii) symbols and words with different meaning
(iii) Faulty translation and so on.
2. Physiological or Emotional barriers: The importance of communication depends on the mental conditionof both the parties. A mentally disturbed party can be a hinder in communication. It can be
(i) prematureevaluation
(ii) lack of attention
(iii) distrust.
3. Organizational barriers: Organizational structure affects the capability of all the employees as far as thecommunication is concerned. Some major hindrances are
(i) organizational policies
(ii) Rules andregulations
(iii) complexity in organizational structure
(iv) organizational facilities.
4. Personal barriers: This barrier is related with personal attitude of employees as well as employer. Theyfear challenge of authority, lack of confidence in subordinates etc. Employees are some time not willing tocommunicate, lack of proper incentive and so on.
