The extract was treated with protease, RNAse and DNAse. DNAs treated extract did not kill mice. Protease killed mice. RNAse killed the mice. This proved that DNA is the genetic material. Significance: Hereditary material can be extracted from one organism and introduced into another (transformation). Hence, DNA is transforming principle.
